Playing with Sitemaps

the past couple of days I've been playing with Sitemaps. since I've got some time and and internet connection I've been looking into the well known world of SEO. I was curious what I can do to improve the SiteRanking of TrapperDesign.com within search engines.

Search Engine Optimization is a term mostly all webmasters have seen on the net. There are endless articles written about it and it's nice to spent some time reading about it and to try some things out for myself.

Since a couple of years Sitemaps are also part of the SEO hype. Google, Yahoo, Ask and MSN Live (now Bing) allow the same protocol for Sitemaps (Sitemap 0.90 protocol) which makes it easy because you just have to create one Sitemap for many search engines.

In general, the Sitemap is an XML file which includes all of the url's of a website. You can submit extra information like the date the pages were updated. Pages on TrapperDesign.com are mainly PHP. that's why I've written a small script which includes all the data from my database and writes it into a XML Sitemap file. By doing this I don't have to rewrite my XML Sitemap everytime I change the content on my website. It's being done for me in the PHP script.

using the webmaster tools of Google and Bing i submitted my Sitemap to the search engines. Besides this I pinged Ask.com and Yahoo the url of my Sitemap. Now it's ime to sit ack and wait if I can see the difference.
